Ever since I was a little kid, my family followed a vegetarian diet. I used to be really skinny. I started eating meat only when I was around 8 years old. Since then, I put on weight and stopped being a skinny. I also grew taller, stronger and became more athletic and better at sports. I feel that vegetarian diet has inadequate amount of growth promoting nutrients and should not be followed unless recommended by a doctor.
In general, people say vegetarian food is healthy and those who eat only veggies tend to live longer; however, The body can function at its fullest potential only when there is a balance of both plant and animal nutrients in its diet because humans are omnivores. I also don't think that eating meat is a form of animal cruelty or is unethical because it is has been an essential part of evolution for 2.3 million years and our body's digestive system is adapted to it.
Meat is also the best source of protein and helps build muscle a lot faster. It also has more iron content than vegetables. Vegetarian food lacks Vitamin B12 which is a crucial part of one's digestive and nervous system's health; Two in three vegetarians are vitamin B-12 deficient, compared to one in 20 meat eaters, according to a July 2003 study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
In conclusion, It is necessary to have a healthy and balanced mix of both vegetables and meat in someone's diet to reap the benefits of both lifestyles. Also, This is in no way meant to offend anyone who follows vegetarianism due to their religion.
